Coronavirus (COVID-19) information for community providers

To our Community Physician colleagues:
If your patients need specialty care for any health concern, we are here and our teams are ready to provide care safely. At this time we are open and available for all referral needs – while continuing to assist our community’s pandemic response with COVID-19 care, expertise and resources.
We welcome new referrals, and have restored many appointments and elective procedures previously put on hold. Our staff is reaching out about rescheduling. Please feel free to contact us to get scheduled, or to ask questions about your patient’s care or our additional safety measures.
UC Davis Health is safe for your patients. We understand that seeking medical care now may cause some people concern, but care that’s delayed often becomes care that’s more complicated later. We are taking a variety of new steps being taken to keep patients apart, safe and healthy. We are prepared, we have planned for your arrival, and we can most likely schedule you in quickly.
We are reimagining our care with new ways to serve patients, depending on their individual health situation and preferences. More telehealth video visits are available for many kinds of care – including initial consultations and follow-ups, so patients only have to travel to Sacramento for their actual procedures.
Enhanced safety protections are in place when patients need to come for in-person visits or tests. Providers and staff are wearing masks, and we’re keeping people a minimum of 6 feet apart wherever possible. We are separating people with novel coronavirus symptoms, and we’ve set up appointment systems so that many patients can wait in their car until it’s time for their in-person appointment. Our patient care team members are checked daily for symptoms, and we are screening patients and visitors while also limiting visitation. We have a robust ability to rapidly test people for COVID-19, to keep health care providers and patients safe.
We’re here to support all levels of everyday wellness and preventive care. It’s especially crucial that providers continue to work with patients on chronic health issues such as diabetes, or routine vaccinations in children.
The MyUCDavisHealth app has features to help support patient care remotely, such as:
- online messaging with the UC Davis Health provider’s office,
- prescription renewal requests,
- advance care planning features,
- links to information about our new safety precautions,
- information about clinical trials research studies, and
- online health and wellness class offerings.
We're helping to solve the novel coronavirus crisis. Our researchers have helped to develop new treatments, new testing protocols, national guidelines, and blood testing for antibodies, and we are researching potential vaccines.
Finally, we're continuing to work closely with the other Northern California health care systems, including Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health and Dignity Health, to monitor COVID-19 spread, infection severity, and surge indications.
