Residency Clinical Teaching Sites
Outpatient Continuity Clinic Experiences:
UC Davis Family Medicine Ambulatory Care Center: We are a hospital-based clinic on the UC Davis Health campus in Sacramento. Residents build skills caring for a panel of patients across the lifespan- serving pediatric, obstetric, adult, and geriatric patients. Collaborative and team-based care is emphasized alongside ongoing clinical quality improvement work.
Longitudinal Community Health Experiences: Our residency program collaborates with 3 area Federally Qualified Health Centers (One Community Health, Sacramento County Health Clinic and CommuniCare) to provide longitudinal community medicine experiences their second and third years of training. Residents learn community-based comprehensive health care alongside supervising UC Davis Family Medicine faculty and volunteer clinical faculty.
UC Davis Medical Center is a 600-bed hospital and the only academic medical center in Northern Central Valley of California. It is a major tertiary referral center, and also a key healthcare provider for our surrounding community. This is the primary inpatient training site for our residents.
Our inpatient Family Medicine Wards, Maternal Infant Care and Night Float rotations encompass our independent inpatient service where we provide comprehensive acute care for our own adult, pediatric and obstetric patients. Our team consists of a Family Medicine attending, residents from all three years of training, and learners from the UC Davis School of Medicine and Nursing.
Residents also complete Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Inpatient Wards, and Obstetrics rotations here.
Mather VA Medical Center is a 50-bed nearby hospital. Its small size promotes a community-feel where the needs of Northern California’s veteran population are served.
Our Mather VA Wards, and Intensive Care Unit rotations happen here.
