The masks are destined for businesses within the city of Sacramento where employees and customers are encouraged or required to wear face covering.
The donation is among the largest made to Metro Chamber as part of the Capital Region Back to Business initiative.
“We appreciate the partnership with UC Davis Health,” said Laurie Eaton, the chamber’s membership director. The donation, she said, will be able to help local businesses as they strive to reopen and thrive in the current climate.
“As the mandate has come down from the governor for everyone to be wearing masks, it would be very difficult to continue business operations without access to masks for all the public,” she added.
UC Davis Heath is able to make such a large contribution because it has sufficient masks for staff and patients, said Jita Buño, director of UC Davis Health Supply Chain Management.
“As our continued commitment to the community, we understand we are not safe unless the community is safe,” she said. “We are glad to be able to partner with the Metro Chamber to bring businesses back in the region.”
