BEARS® Tissue Program
To acquire quality brain tissue from both individuals with a neurodevelopmental disorder and those considered having typical development.
To collaborate and facilitate the sharing of high quality brain tissue with scientists worldwide to increase our understanding of the biological basis of neurodevelopmental disorders.
To launch a nationwide campaign for public outreach and education on the importance and need for brain tissue donation.»
Utilize the expertise and state-of-the-art technology available at the UC Davis MIND Institute » to prepare for the immediate and distribution of each donated brain tissue to investigators worldwide.
To establish partnerships with other programs, interested in promoting brain tissue donation, such as the Autism Tissue Program (ATP), Simons Foundation, » the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) Brain and Tissue Bank, » and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). »
To establish a nationwide network of collection sites for brain tissue donation, and foster communication between the local community, coroners, medical examiners, and healthcare facilities.
To support our team of multi-disciplinary researchers at the UC Davis MIND Institute » and around the world in their efforts to develop preventions and treatments for various neurodevelopmental disorders.
