Murray-Garcia named Citizen of the Year
Anne Ternus-Bellamy, Davis Enterprise
Jann Murray-García, a pediatrician and associate professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis, is awarded the C.A. Covell Award recipient for 2020. The award, also known as the Davis Citizen of the Year award, recognizes leadership in civic activities, service to the community and reliability in following through on commitments. She was nominated for her leadership to develop and implement the Race and Social Justice program at Davis High School. She also leads anti-racism training at UC Davis Health.

Disruption to Transformation: Aging in the ‘New Normal’
Terri Harvath, Gerontology News
Terri Harvath, senior director for strategic initiatives and director for the Family Caregiving Institute at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, pens a column in the January issue of the Gerontology Association of America’s January issue of the newsletter, “Gerontology Today,” calling for continued work toward innovative solutions to provide equitable care for older adults and other vulnerable populations. January marked the start of her term as president of the national association.

Alumni and leaders establish student support fund

What started as a gift from the master’s-degree leadership Class of 2018 grew with support from additional alumni and school leaders to become the Student Support Endowment. This unique fund helps ensure all Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing students receive the support they need to successfully fulfill their dreams of graduation.
