UC Davis violence prevention researcher awarded for What You Can Do initiative
Rocco Pallin, a research data analyst with the UC Davis Violence Prevention Research Program (VPRP), is receiving a 2019 Urgent Matters Commendation Award for Excellence at the American College of Emergency Physicians annual meeting in Denver, Colorado this weekend.
Pallin is director of the What You Can Do initiative, a VPRP focused intervention for health care providers to help prevent firearm injury and death. She is being honored for her dedication to advancing academic emergency medicine and efforts to prevent firearm injury.
Pallin has a background in youth development and community health, and holds an M.P.H. from Tulane University and a B.A. from Dartmouth College.
What You Can Do aims to give health care providers the clinical tools they need to identify risk and to talk with at-risk patients about firearm safety. Resources include an online guide and video to earn CME credit.
