The Biomedical Technology Program combines a range of disciplines (physical sciences, biology, medicine, and engineering) with the goal of innovative advances in techniques and technologies for research, diagnosis, and therapy in cancer. 

Program themes include: (1) development of improved cancer diagnostics through new imaging systems (utilizing x-ray, visible, near-visible, and sonic spectrums), (2) invention of new biological, physical, and biophysical technologies to optimize the delivery and potency of pharmacological, surgical, and radiation therapies, (3) new research modalities using biophotonics, especially for live cell interrogation, (4) new forms of animal imaging and (5) new forms of  ”lab on a chip” technologies, and other ways to collect biological information through innovative engineering.
