Preventing Firearm-Related Injury and Death: A Targeted Intervention

This course is designed to equip health care providers with the background and practical knowledge necessary to intervene with their patients for reduction of firearm injuries and deaths by identifying those at increased risk for firearm injury, asking about access to firearms when indicated, and counseling on safe firearm practices when appropriate.

Through this engaging course, which incorporates case studies and clinical support tools within Epic, learners identify gaps in practice and how to apply a valuable new insulin order-set. Participants will also learn the most recent standards of care published by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) on inpatient diabetes/hyperglycemia management and how to apply them in practice, in addition to being provided with adjunct support materials such as pocket reference guides.

Human Trafficking — Training for Healthcare Providers

This one-hour course is designed for health care providers who want to learn more about human trafficking, which involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. At the end of the course, learners will be able to describe trauma-informed care, identify five red flags and/or risk factors for human trafficking, identify two conversation starters to discuss human trafficking with patients, and access resources when trafficking  is suspected.

Limb Salvage Program — Introduction to Ankle Brachial Index Testing

This course is designed for health care professionals who wish to learn more about diagnosis and treatment of patients with lower extremity ulcers, including a comprehensive overview of ankle brachial index (ABI) testing.

Limb Salvage Program — Introduction to the Wound, Ischemia, Foot Infection (WIFI) Scoring Tool

This course is designed to teach health care professionals how to characterize a patients’ risk of amputation and need for revascularization using the WIFI tool.

The purpose of these courses is to provide training on evidence-based tobacco treatment for clinical providers and staff with ten modules to accommodate learner needs and maximize flexibility. These on-demand courses are presented by University of California faculty with over twenty years in experience in tobacco research and integration of tobacco treatments in health care settings.

12 Tips For Teaching Clinical Reasoning
