The fifth annual International Connections Reception, hosted by UC Davis Global Affairs on March 5, brought the UC Davis community together to celebrate globally engaged faculty, staff and scholars.
Wilkes is known for expanding opportunities for students to learn about worldwide health needs through global exchanges, new majors and certificate programs, and One Health courses, among other initiatives. He also has taken a leadership role in community issues such as health care for refugees. He practices and teaches in the UC Davis Division of General Internal Medicine.
“Dr. Wilkes has always understood that being a good UC Davis citizen also means being a good global citizen,” said Timothy Albertson, chair of internal medicine at UC Davis Health. “We can’t think of a better way for him to be recognized.”
