Radiology fellowship training gives doctors the opportunity to work directly with faculty in their specialized field. Each fellow is given the opportunity to spend elective time at other institutions to better enhance their education.

Ben Carney, MD

Abdominal Imaging

Ben Carney completed medical school at the University of Illinois followed by residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He is moving to Sacramento with his wife and one-year-old son. His hobbies include running, trying new restaurants, travel and building block towers that his son immediately destroys. 

Xiaopei Chen, MD

Abdominal Imaging

Xiaopei Chen attended Zhejiang University, School of Medicine in China, and graduated with honors. She then moved to the U.S. to pursue further clinical training. Her internship was in preliminary internal medicine at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and her radiology residency and breast imaging fellowship were at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio. Having been in practice as a breast imaging radiologist for a few years, she believes additional fellowship training in advanced body imaging will make her an even better radiologist. She truly appreciates this opportunity at UC Davis. While it is always busy at work, she tries to have a balanced life. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, volleyball, badminton, and hiking, especially when doing these with family and friends.

After graduating from medical school from India, Bharat obtained advanced Radiology training in India and in Detroit. After practicing for more than a decade in Emergency Radiology, He followed his passion in Neuroradiology to join as fellowship at UC Davis. Bharat loves to spend time with his family and kids. hobbies include reading, cooking, and hiking and he is an avid traveler.

Independent Interventional Radiology

Qurieno Deguchy was born and raised in Los Angeles California. He attended Cathedral High School where he met his future wife. He then graduated from the University of Southern California where he earned a degree in psychology. After three years of enjoying a life as a Mr. Mom, he earned admissions to the University of California Davis School of Medicine where he also completed his preliminary medicine internship. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, barbecuing, playing basketball and watching movies at the drive-in theater.

Charles Goldenberg, MD

Abdominal Imaging

Charles Goldenberg completed residency in diagnostic radiology during the pandemic at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Goldenberg attended medical school at the State University of New York Downstate, in Brooklyn. He loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking, biking, and the ocean. Other interests include medical device design, innovative biomedical technologies, and enhancement of the graduate medical training experience. 

Satinderpal Khera, MD

Satin was born in Chicago (Chicago sports fan!) and spent his high school years in Punjab, India. He worked in the high-tech industry prior to graduating from UC Davis in exercise biology. After his undergraduate studies, he then moved to DC to attend medical school at Georgetown and completed his internship in medicine at UCSF Fresno. Satin is a graduate of the radiology residency program at UC Davis. Satin loves spending time with his wife, Michelle, and his dog, Delli. Satin also has been doing Crossfit for the last ten years during medical school, intern year and residency, where he has made many lifelong friends. In addition, he is a political junkie and loves to read about politics. More recently, Satin has been taking on golf and hopes to get to par! Satin looks forward to starting his MSK fellowship at UC Davis! 

Bryan Lubomirsky, MD

Bryan Lubomirsky grewup in Los Angeles, the older of two younger athletic and sweet brothers. Bryan attended college at UC Santa Barbara where he studied biochemistry. He then attended Medical School at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and completed his internship at UC Irvine in Internal Medicine. His residency years were spent at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. His hobbies include traveling for tourism, reading novels, and exercising at the beach or park.

Women’s Imaging

Elham Najafpour is a proud mother of twins, her greatest achievement and honor. She enjoys spending time with her family. After earning a medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, she continued her academic journey by pursuing research at Washington University in Saint Louis, and completed diagnostic radiology residency at University Hospitals, Case Western Reserve University. Elham enjoys travel. She is a runner and a food enthusiast.

Independent Interventional Radiology

DP Patel grew up in Baroda, India until the age of 13 and then moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming. His interest in neuroscience as a teenager brought him to the University of Washington in Seattle for undergraduate training as well as medical school. In the Pacific Northwest, he enjoyed rock-climbing and outdoor recreation. DP completed his radiology residency at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he substituted his former hobbies with all-season-long tennis matches. Throughout his life-journey, he had the opportunity to appreciate diverse cultures and customs as well as foods. DP is excited to join Independent Interventional Radiology at UC Davis.

Saman Panahipour, MD

Musculoskeletal Imaging

Saman Panahipour finished medical school at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He completed his radiology residency at University Hospitals, Case Western Reserve University. In his spare time, he loves to travel, watch sci-fi movies and spend time with his loving wife and family. He is the father of twin boys.

Ghazal Shadmani, MD

Ghazal Shadmani, M.D.


Ghazal Shadmani started Medicine in her hometown Shiraz, Iran and then started radiology residency first in Tehran and then in Shiraz University of Medical Science. She worked as a general radiologist for nearly 8 years and then started a research fellowship in University of California Irvine in 2019, her research project was dynamic and perfusion CT studies in heart, Lung and Brain. She enjoys being with her family in her free time.
